Celtic 3 -2 Kentstown
Trim Celtic kept their league hopes alive with a very spirted performance against Kentstown on Monday night. Despite starting brightly Trim fell behind after 8 minutes when Kentstown scored directly from a corner kick. Graham Higgins responded quickly for Trim after a superb through ball from Anthony Craig. Both teams played some good football and Kentstown re-took the lead after a nice move split the Trim back four open. Celtic were determined not to let the game slip away and Aaron Newman’s powerful run and cross set-up Graham Higgins for his 2nd of the game, his 10th of the season. The teams went in level at the break but Trim stepped up the pace 2nd half and squandered a number of good chances to take the lead. Goalkeeper Eric Scanlon made a few crucial saves whenever Kentstown broke on the counter attack. With 10 mins remaining Ciaran Quinns excellent delivery from a free-kick was met with a superb header from the outstanding Aaron Newman. Trim held out for proffesionally for the remainder of the game and the league will now go down to the final game against Kingscourt on Saturday. Best for Trim in an excellent team performance were Aaron Newman, Alan Douglas and Graham Higgins.
