Trim Celtic won their second Premier Division match in a row after this victory against Torro Utd. Celtic started well, however Torro had the first scoring opportunity when keeper Mick Martin was forced into a smart save that John Farrell cleared. Celtic had a good chance of their own when Ciaran Rispin raided down the left wing to cross to Alex Geraghty at the back post, whose header was scrambled away by the Torro defence. Soon after Celtic took the lead when Craig O’Hanlon headed home Mark Gilsenan’s excellent free-kick. Gilsenan’s set-pieces were outstanding throughout the game with Celtic’s second goal, an OG off the knee of a Torro defender, the result of another dangerous free-kick. Craig O’Hanlon almost extended Celtic’s lead but was denied when his low shot was excellently saved by the keeper, with John Farrell’s follow-up again saved by the keeper. With the half coming to a close Celtic were caught on the break and conceded a penalty when David Conway felled a Torro player in the box. The penalty was scored to leave the game at 2 – 1 at the break.More…
Ten minutes into the second half Cetlic won a free-kick on the edge of the box. Torro again pulled a goal back but Celtic fought bravely despite the sending off of Shane Ashe for two bookable offences to claim victory.
