Everyone at the Club congratulates Rueban McManus from Navan, who is fast progressing through the refereeing ranks as one of the most promising young referees in the country. A member of the Meath Branch of the ISRS, Rueban is the son of NECSL Chairman Peter McManus and he has already officiated at a number of schoolboy International matches and at some other key games domestically. Club Secretary Des Clancy remembers Rueban well as a young player with Parkvilla. ‘Rueban lined out many times over the years for Parkvilla against Trim Celtic teams and I remember him as a fine player in the claret and blue. But what I most recall about him was his exemplary sportsmanship. Regardless of the result Rueban was always the first up to shake hands with great sincerity after the game. I hope that he goes on to achieve greater things as a referee and maybe we will soon enough see him taking charge of National League games.’
