The highlight of the night was the presentation of the Noel Dempsey Perpetual Cup to U14 player Colm Smith as overall Schoolboy Player of the Year. Colm’s manager Shay Lee was lavish in his praise for Colm and expressed huge satisfaction at the announcement.

Player of the Year awards were presented as follows:

902All of the Club’s Seven-a-Side teams were present with their managers and each player received a souvenir medal for his efforts during the 2005/06 season. In keeping with the non-competitive nature of Sevens football in the NECSL, no individual Player of the Year awards were made to the younger age groups, following agreement reached by the various team managers during the season.

  • Under 8 Pumas – manager Adrian Geraghty
  • Under 8 Rascals – manager Alan Kirwan
  • Under 8 Swifts – manager Colm Clohisey
  • Under 8 Tigers – manager John Sweeney

  • Under 9 Eagles – manager Peter Callaghan
  • Under 9 Raptors – manager Gerry Harte
  • Under 10 Victors & Supremos – manage Mark Farrell

Club Chairman Robert Bradley was MC for the night and he paid tribute to all of the team officials for their efforts in fielding teams over 500 times during the year from Under 8’s up to U16’s.

Ladies Player of the Year

848For the first time, the Ladies attended the Club’s annual Presentation Function and they turned out in force (and style!) to see Denise Jackson announced as the Player of the Year in Celtic’s League winning Ladies team for the 2005 season. Denise was presented with her trophy by former Chairman Ciaran Gaughran.

842
By popular opinion the Club’s lady members added a vital ingredient to the occasion and we hope to see then enjoy more success during the current season. Under the managements of Robert Bradley the team kicked off their season with a fine 6-1 win over Parkvilla of Navan on Monday night of this week at Tully Park.

New Managers Wanted

If you are interested in managing or assisting with the running of any Club team this coming season, now is the time to contact our Club Secretary Des Clancy (see Club Contacts).

The Committee is particularly interested in hearing from those wishing to manage or coach the Senior Teams in the MDL – Premier Division and Premier Reserve Division. Additionally we will need managers/coaches/assistants for our new Under 8 Seven-a-Side teams which will play on the all weather pitches at the MDL from September to March. Extra  personnel will probably be needed at U9 and perhaps U10 also.

Any help that is offered in relation to any of our other teams will be very welcome.
