Some important end-of-season fxitures are coming up for Celtic’s Schoolboy Teams -no less than four of the Club’s sides have reached the finals of their NECSL Divisional Shields.

• First up are John Marron’s U13’s on Tuesday 9th May in the U13 Major Shield Final against Newtown. The game is scheduled for the MDL Grounds at 7pm.
• Next up are Shay Lee’s boys on Thursday 11th May in the U14 Premier Shield Final against Ardee. This game is also fixed for the MDL at 7pm.

Details of the Shield Finals for Mark Scanlon’s U16’s and Nick Nally’s U12’s have not yet been announced.

Action from yesterday evening’s MDL Reserve Cup Final at the MDL Ground. Was it out Andy?

Goals by Joan Lehmann and James Toher were enough to win three points for the Club’s U12’s in their second last league match of the season away to Bailieboro this morning. Nick Nally’s boys were crowned League Champions two weeks ago.

After the reserve Cup victory by the Club Seconds last night at the MDL Ground senior Club action today switched to Tully Park as the Firsts entertained MDL Division 3 side Rossin Rovers in the semi-final of the Kilmessan Shield. Goals by Craig O’Hanlon, Colm Harte, Paul Capmbell and Ross Campbell saw Celtic through by a score of 4-2 to the final which will be played against fellow MDL Premier Division side Carrick Rovers next saturday evening in Bellurgan, kick off 6.30pm.

Well done to Alan and the boys!

After the disappointment of losing out to Carrick Rovers last week in the race for the MDL Premier Reserve League title, Danny Quinn’s lads made up for it this evening with a fine 2-1 over Glenmuir in the final of the Reserve Cup. Goals by Danny himself and and Shane Ashe both  in the second half were enough to see off ther Co. Louth side who took a 1-0 lead into the break. Congratulations to Danny, his assistants and to all of the players!

Bad news for the Club’s U16’s at Tully Park this afternoon when they went down 2-5 against title rivals Kingscourt despite a game effort all round. Onlooking Ardee Celtic officials shared their disappointment as the Cavan Club won it’s second NECSL title of the season in Trim today. Mark Corrigan (penalty) and Aaron Newman were on target. Earlier the Club’s U14’s lost 1-3 at home to Kingscourt with Sean Foley on target. Better news for the U12’s who fought their way into the NECSL Shield final thanks to a 2-1 defeat of Kentstown in Kentstown. Joan Lehmann and Ciaran Fitzsimons both scored. In the only other schoolboy game played today the U13’s ran out easy winners against Oristown in their League match at Tully Park.

Thanks to the efforts of the Club’s many loyal members and supporters a very enjoyable night was had by all present at the Club’s Annual Race Nite in the Emmet Tavern last night. MC for the night was 1st Team manager Alan Kirwan who did a plendid job with the ‘mike’ and Ronan McKenna excelled as auctioneer of the horses for the Auction Race. The Committee wish to thank everyone who sponsored races, purchased horses, trainers or jockeys or contributed in any way to a vey successful night.
