This Weekend’s Match Reports – Under 12′s Bow Out of SFAI Cup

Trim Celtic 0 – 0 Glenmuir Utd
Trim Celtic stretched their unbeaten run to five games with this scoreless draw with Dundalk side Glenmuir. Despite playing with a strong breeze in the first half Celtic struggled to contain Glenmuir inthe opening exchanges, however the Louth men created few chances desite their possession. Firsts & Sixteens both Draw

Alan Kirwan’s Firsts continued their good run of form in the Premier Division of the MDL today at Tully Park when they drew 0-0 against Glenmuir from Dundalk. Celtic have now won three and drawn two of their last five Premier Division games. The result moves the team up a place in the league -to fifth bottom. Although by no means certain the worry of relegation is nearly over. Next week they travel to Agher to take on Agher Park in the Kilmessan Shield.

Mark Scanlon’s U16′s travelled to play NECSL League leaders Kingscourt today and two converted free kicks by Ciaran Quinn won them a share of the spoils in a game that they might very easily have won.

Countdown to Big Game

 [photopress:mini_2005_1230ClubDrinkEmmet20050015_2_.JPG,thumb,pp_empty]

With the biggest game of the Schoolboy season to date now only two days away the Club’s U12 Manager Nick Nally is busy making preparations which will hopefully see his side become the first Celtic team to reach quarter final stage of a National SFAI Cup.

Nick was in confident form this afternoon as he looked forward to Saturday’s game against Kingdom Boys from Tralee.

“With the ability we have in our team we go into every game quite confidently and if the lads play to the best of their ability they will be hard to beat and there is every chance that they will progress. At the start of the season, we set ourselves the target of reaching the last 32 of the National Cup”

Good Luck to Parkvilla

As the Club prepares for it’s big game against Kingdom Boys (Tralee) for a place in the quarter-finals of the SFAI Norton U12 Cup, we send our best wishes to the U14 boys from Parkvilla who will also be playing for a quarter-final spot next weekend when they travel to take on Knock from Mayo in the Goodson Cup.

Parkvilla is the only club in the NECSL ever to reach the quarter final stage of an SFAI National Cup -in fact they reached the semi-final stage of the U17 National Cup in the early 90′s only to lose out to Cherry Orchard.

Good luck to both sides representing Co. Meath.
