The identity of the Club’s First Team Captain for the new
season was revealed this week when Manager Alan Kirwan appointed David
Conway to the position. David has played for the Club for almost 15 years
coming up through the ranks to become a First Team regular for the last
four season. David was selected as Player of the Year for the 2002/3 season
which saw his name engraved on the Brody Cup. Last season David became
the first player with the Club in recent years to reach the 100 goal milestone,
an impressive feat for a player who has played many of his games for
the Club at centre back – he is equally comfortable leading the attack
or anchoring the defence. David also enjoyed the distinction of playing
alongside his father Pat on several occasions – one of the very few father
and son combinations ever to line out in local football. David’s brother
Patrick is also a prominent player with the Club.
Everyone in the Club congratulates David and wishes him well.
