Pre-Season Friendlies
1st Team
Trim Celtic 2 – 0 Parkvilla
Two first half Noel Payne goals were enough to see Celtic past Navan side
Parkvilla. The first goal was a superb left foot shot from the corner of the box
which rocketed into the top corner. The second came from a fine move when Craig
O’Hanlon headed Mark Scanlon’s pass onto Payne who coolly slotted home. Celtic
had keeper Tony McDonnell to thank for keeping Parkvilla out with a fine one on
one save.
Best for Trim Celtic were Noel Payne, Derek Dixon and Tony McDonnell.

Trim Celtic 1 – 0 Longwood.
In a tough game Celtic came out victorious against local side Longwood. Celtic
suffered a few early scares when keeper Tony McDonnell was forced to tip a long
range effort before another similar effort came crashing back off the woodwork.
Celtic took the lead when Craig O’Hanlon finished off a fine flowing move which
involved Ciaran Rispin and Paul Campbell before Colm Harte sent in a superb cross
which O’Hanlon headed home.
Chances were few and far between in this tough encounter however Celtic had
the better of the with Tony McDonnell rarely troubled after those early efforts.
Best for Trim Celtic were Mick Corrigan, Ciaran Rispin and Dominic Martin

Trim Celtic ‘ s second team played their first game under the management
of Noel Farrell and came away from Dunboyne with a draw. David Campbell scored
Celtic ‘ s goal with a header from a corner.
Best for Trim Celtic were Tommy Boyle, Gordon Flood and Paddy Melia.

Under 16
Albion Rovers 0 – 5 Trim Celtic
Trim Celtic got their season off to a good start with a convincing win in
a pre-season friendly away to Albion Rovers. Celtic were three goals up at halftime
thanks to a goal from Aaron Newman and a brace for Alan Douglas. Trim missed a
number of chances in the second half but debut goals from Sean Bell and Graham
Higgins sealed the victory. Next week the 20th of August the team will play BBC
(Broadford) at home at 11am. On the 27th of August they face Mullingar Athletic
away at 11am.
Best for Trim Celtic were Alan Douglas, Ciaran Quinn and Sean Bell.
