James, whose recent untimely death touched the whole of this community,
was a schoolboy member of our club from 1996 -2003. He initially
participated in the introductory underage Summer leagues which the club
ran in the mid -1990’s.

In his first competitive season 1996/97 he captained the Club’s U 11
Tigers to victory in the NECSL U11 Shield. He was also part of a Trim
team which captured the Meath Community Games Soccer title, the first
group from
the town to do so and in subsequent years he continued to perform with
distinction, winning numerous trophies as an impressive and versatile
player – a key member of every team he played on. He won representative
honours with both the NECSL and the Brenfer North Dublin Leagues and
was chosen to represent the Irish Schools Team at Under 17 in
Scotland although he was unable to travel.

He was the clubs overall Schoolboy Player of the Year for the 2000/01
season for which the received the Noel Dempsey Perpetual Cup.

James was immensely popular with both team mates and team officials
alike. On the field he was competitive but disciplined. Off the field
he was good – humoured and polite. He was in every way a model member
of our Club.

Our thoughts remain with his devoted parents Kitty and Vincent as they struggle to come to terms with their terrible loss.
