Kells 1 – 2 Trim Celtic A.E.T.

Trim Celtic qualified for the Shield Final with a hard fought victory over Kells Boys. On a rock hard pitch that was devoid of grass this was as game that was as much about character as footballing ability and Trim Celtic had it in abundance. Celtic started slowly but Diarmuid Higgins put Celtic ahead with a goal from close range. However Kells battled back to equalise before halftime. The second half was a very tight affair with Colm Smith coming close, however the lack of goals brough the game to extra-time. Danone Nations Cup

Trim Celtic 2 – 0 Glenmuir Utd

Trim Celtic scorers: Sean Fitzgerald, Fionn Nally

Trim Celtic 1 – 0 Raheny Utd

Trim Celtic scorer: Sam Millen

Trim Celtic U-11s advanced to the All-Ireland stages of the Danone Nations Cup after deservedly beating the strongest teams from the North Dublin, Dundalk and Drogheda Schoolboys leagues. In a round robin competition between Trim Celtic (representing the NECSL), Raheny Utd., Glenmuir Utd. and Albion Rovers, Trim played the best football of the day and had won the competition after winning their first two games. In the first game against Glenmuir Utd., Trim went ahead with a very well taken goal by Sean Fitzgerald after being set up by CiarĂ¡n Fitzsimons. Trim continued to play the ball around and added to their lead in the second half after a great move down right resulted in a cross across goal where Fionn Nally was there to slot home. In the second game against Raheny Utd, the game was tight and was tied 0-0 at half time. In the 2nd half Trim again dominated and after five minutes, Sam Millen was put through on goal and beat three defenders for a superb individual goal that turned out to be the winner. After the other teams had drawn, it meant that Trim on 6 points
could not be caught. In the final game against Albion Rovers, Trim fielded a number of substitutes and took some time to adjust to the game. Trim were beaten by Albion but at that stage it was immaterial. Trim will be representing the NE region of the country in the all-Ireland stages in June.

Trim Celtic squad: James Mitchell, Shane O’Connor, Ciaran Fitzsimons, Joan Lehmann, James Toher, Sean McGee, Fionn Nally, Sam Millen, Ciaran Halpin, Sean Fitzgerald, Joey Corrigan, Paul Melia, Evan Dixon, Gareth White, Darren O’Neill.
