Trim Celtic secure second place in the league but they were made to work hard for their victory by Cup finalists Albion Rovers. Rovers took the lead inside ten minutes with a goal which was deflected over keeper Mick Martin. However Celtic fought back and Paul Bartley fired home from ten yards. With the very next attack Celtic took the lead when Paul Campbell struck from the edge of the box. Soon after Keith Jones won a penalty after a fine left wing run, which Campbell slotted home. Campbell then completed his hattrick before halftime when he poked David Conway’s through ball over the advancing keeper.

Celtic started the second half as they had finished the first with Keith Jones converting Craig O’Hanlon’s long throw. Albion won a penalty midway through the half which Mick Martin managed to save, however the rebound was converted.
