Trim Celtic secured their fifth league win in a row with this win against relagated Botown. Paul Bartley returned to haunt his former club with a first half hattrick. Bartley opened the scoring within ten minutes with a firm header which went in off the post. Celtic doubled their lead soon after when Craig O’Hanlon’s shot was parried into the path of Bartley who finished from close range. Bartley was again involved in Celtic’s third goal as he headed the ball to David Conway who headed home from close range. Celtic’s fourth came when David Conway flicked on Craig O’Hanlon’s long throw to Paul Bartley who completed his hattrick finishing from six yards. Botown had their keeper to thank for some fine saves from Paul Campbell, Dermot Bartley, David Fagan, O’Hanlon and Conway whick kept the scoreline down.

In the second half Celtic made most of the running but without improving on the scoreline. David Fagan came close after a typically surging run which the keeper tapped over and Paul Campbell also brought out the best in th Botown net minder with a driven shot from the outside the box. Celtic rarely had to call on their keeper Mick Martin but when they did he made some important saves. This win moves Celtic into second place in the league just one point behind Slane.
