Trim Celtic played the best game of the season to beat Ardee Celtic by seven goals to nil. The game was very even until Trim Celtic took the lead when Paul Bartley lunged to poke home Paul Campbell’s free kick. Paul Campbell was again involved when Trim doubled their lead when he combined with Keith Jones down the left wing before pulling the ball back to Bartley who put the ball into the corner of the net from ten yards. Bartley then turned provider for Celtic’s third as he collected Keith Jones’ pass to cross to David Conway who headed home from six yards. Shortly before halftime, Bartley completed his hattrick with a superb strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

In the second half Celtic extended their lead when the experienced Paul Bartley was taken down in the box with Paul Campbell applying the finishing touch from the spot. Substitute Anthony Kane then also got in on the scoring act as he converted Noel Payne’s inch perfect cross from six yards. After a blistering run that was halted illegally in the box another substitute Craig O’Hanlon dusted himself down to convert the penalty.

Best for Trim Celtic were Paul Campbell, Paul Bartley and Keith Jones.
