Start of the NECSL ‘Sevens’ Season

The long awaited start of the NECSL ‘Sevens’ season is scheduled for Saturday 8th October and this year’s event promises to be the best to date. All games will be played on Saturday mornings on the excellent ‘all-weather’ pitches at the MDL commencing at 9am and finishing about 1.30pm.

Fixtures are scheduled for every Saturday until the end of March next although there will be no games on Saturday 29th October or on Saturdays 17th/24th December or on January 7th. Note carefully.

This season the Club has entered teams as follows:
U8 Pumas (managed by Adrian Geraghty)
U8 Rascals (Alan Kirwan)
U8 Tigers (John Sweeney)
U9 Cubs (Peter Madden)
U9 Eagles (Peter Callaghan)
U9 Raptors (Gerry Harte)
U10 Supremos (Mark Farrell)

Plans are in hand for two more teams to be entered -at U8 and U10.

This year there will be increased emphasis on the friendly nature of the games which are officially classed as non-competitive coaching games. Parents, players and managers are asked to fully support the Club in its committment to this principle.

Some of the teams have also entered the MDL underage Sevens competition to be run off mid-week over the next two months.

Good luck to all of the boys taking part. Enjoy yourselves to the full. And a ‘big thank’ you to the team managers and parents.
