Botown Utd 0 – 4 Trim Celtic

Premier Division

Botown Utd 0 – 4 Trim Celtic

Trim Celtic secured their fifth league win in a row with this win against relagated Botown. Paul Bartley returned to haunt his former club with a first half hattrick. Bartley opened the scoring within ten minutes with a firm header which went in off the post. Celtic doubled their lead soon after when Craig O’Hanlon’s shot was parried into the path of Bartley who finished from close range. Bartley was again involved in Celtic’s third goal as he headed the ball to David Conway who headed home from close range. Celtic’s fourth came when David Conway flicked on Craig O’Hanlon’s long throw to Paul Bartley who completed his hattrick finishing from six yards. Botown had their keeper to thank for some fine saves from Paul Campbell, Dermot Bartley, David Fagan, O’Hanlon and Conway whick kept the scoreline down.

In the second half Celtic made most of the running but without improving on the scoreline. David Fagan came close after a typically surging run which the keeper tapped over and Paul Campbell also brought out the best in th Botown net minder with a driven shot from the outside the box. Celtic rarely had to call on their keeper Mick Martin but when they did he made some important saves. This win moves Celtic into second place in the league just one point behind Slane.

Best for Trim Celtic were Paul Bartley, Craig O’Hanlon & John Bligh

Trim Celtic Under 10′s visited Dalymount Park on Friday 15th April and played Bohemians Under 10′s at the interval of the Bohemians Vs Cork City Eircom Premier Division match. The team were able to meet some of the Bohemians and Cork players afterwards and got autographs and pictures taken with them. Well done to all the lads. Thanks to all the parents and supporters who travelled to the game.

Trim Celtic: Danny Connell, David Fox, Conor Henebry, Barry Fitzgerald, Patrick Lennon, Malachy Gavin, Neil Sweeney, Glenn Flood, Colin Keane, Evan McCormack, Shane Downes, Stephen Calter.

Ashe rock solid in easy victory…

Premier Division

Trim Celtic 4 – 1 Rock Celtic

Ashe hits brace as first team beat Rock Celtic 4-1

Premier Division

Trim Celtic 4 – 1 Rock Celtic

Halftime: 0 – 0

Trim Celtic scorers: Shane Ashe 2, Dermot Bartley, Keith Jones

Sent off: Noel Payne

In a first half that was scoreless Trim Celtic made most of the
running with Noel Payne and Paul Bartley both having opportunities to score.
Payne and a Rock player were then red carded for a minor scuffle where
yellow cards would have been punishment enough.

In the second half Trim again had chances to score through David Conway who
failed to convert David Fagan’s long pass. The deadlock was broken soon
after when Dermot Bartley headed Paul Campbell’s corner home. Celtic doubled
their lead when Shane Ashe pounced on a defensive error to rifle home. Shane
then scored a superb second as he cut in from the right to blast the ball
into the top corner from the edge of the box. Dermot Bartley, David Conway
and Paul Bartley all should have extended Celtic’s lead but Rock scored a
goal on the break to give them hope. Celtic had goalkeeper Mick Martin to
thank for a fine block with Ciaran Rispin also providing superb cover as
Rock looked for a second. However substitute John Kelly’s neat back-heel
played in Keith Jones to round up the scoring. Kelly then should have got
himself on the scoresheet but failed to convert when it looked impossible to
miss.

Best for Trim Celtic were Dermot Bartley, Paul Campbell and Shane Ashe.

Trim Celtic: Mick Martin, Ciaran Rispin, Keith Jones, Dermot Bartley,
Dominic Martin, Noel Payne, Paul Campbell, David Fagan, David Conway, Paul
Bartley, Shane Ashe.

Subs: John Bligh (for Dominic Martin), John Kelly (for David Conway)
