Trim Celtic 6 – 0 Rathkenny

Halftime: 2 – 0

Trim Celtic scorers: David Conway 2, Dominic Martin, Paul Campbell, Noel
Payne, Keith Jones

Rathkenny started brightly with the wind and forced a few early corners.

However within ten minutes Celtic had the lead when Dominic Martin glanced
home Noel Payne’s corner. Celtic extended their lead before the break when
Keith Jones found David Conway in the box and the latter beat his man to
fire home.

With the wind at their backs Celtic could impose themselves more on the game
and scored a third when David Conway headed home Paul Campbell’s superb
cross. Campbell then got his name on the score sheet when he finished
Dominic Martin’s cross at the second attempt. Campbell turned provider again
for Trim’s fifth goal when he found Noel Payne on the edge of the box.
Payne’s control was instant and he lifted the ball over the keeper from
eighteen yards. Celtic saved the best goal until last when Keith Jones
cracked home a thirty-five yard effort into the top corner.
