Trim Celtic were due to play top Dublin side Cherry Orchard this Bank Holiday Sunday in a pre-season friendly. The idea was to play against one of the most organised amateur teams in the country in preparation for the coming season. However with the Celtic players out on the field warming up a phone call was received some ten minutes before kick-off to say that the opposition would not be travelling. Trim Celtic went to great lengths to organise a referee and two linesmen on a Bank Holiday Weekend in order to make an impression on the Dublin side. To say that the club is highly disappointed with the attitude of Cherry Orchard would be an understatement.
