Halftime: 0 – 1

Trim Celtic scorers: Colm Smith, Sean Foley, Niall Farrell

Premier Division – Trim Celtic 1 – 2 Glenmuir Utd

Premier Division

Trim Celtic 1 – 2 Glenmuir Utd

Halftime: 1 – 2

Trim Celtic scorer: Paul Campbell

Trim Celtic suffered their fist defeat of the season at the hands of Glenmuir. The Dundalk side started brightly and took the lead when a shot came back of the crossbar and was finished from close range. Celtic came close when David Conway’s header cleared was cleared off the line. Celtic equalised soon after when Shane Ashe broke clear and squared the ball to allow Paul Campbell to tap home. Celtic then lost captain Dominic Martin to a facial injury and conceded another long after as a Glenmuir player was allowed in to slot past keeper Barry O’Callaghan. As the half Celtic were awarded numerous free kicks on the edge of the box and from one such occasion almost drew level as David Conway headed narrowly wide from Paul Campbell’s cross.
Against the wind in the second half Celtic piled on the pressure onto the Glenmuir defence without actually troubling the keeper. Paul Campbell and Shane Ashe both had long-range shots that went narrowly wide. Late on Ashe had a valid penalty claim turned down as he ran at the Glenmuir defence into the box. In stoppage time Celtic’s David Fagan hit the inside of the post with a snap shot from the edge of the box.

Best for Trim Celtic were Dermot Bartley, David Fagan and Keith Jones

Trim Town took the lead early in the first half and continued to cause problems for the Celtic defence. Ross Campbell came close at the other end hitting the crossbar from a free kick and Gordon Flood also shot narrowly wide after a surging run into the box.

Shortly into the second half Celtic drew level when Ross Campbell was put through by Mark Scanlon on the left to fire home. Fergus Fagan then put Celtic in front when he finished from close range after Town had failed to clear a corner. With ten minutes remaining Town scored an equaliser with a back post header from a corner.

NECSL Under 15 League

Trim Celtic 1 – 2 Ardee Celtic

Halftime: 0 – 1

Trim Celtic scorer Aaron Newman

This was a disappointing game for Trim Celtic who started poorly and were one down at the break. It was only after Ardee’s second goal that Trim began to play to their capabilities and an Aaron Newman goal got them back in the game. But for a combination of the woodwork and bad finishing Trim Celtic may have snatched a point.

Best for Trim Celtic were Aaron Newman, Ciaran Joyce and Ciaran Quinn

NECSL Under 13 League

Kentstown 1 – 1 Trim Celtic

Halftime: 0 – 1

Trim Celtic scorer: Diarmuid Higgins

A poor refereeing decision denied Trim Celtic a deserved win in this match.
Leading by a Diarmuid Higgins strike from 15 yards after twenty minutes a controversial penalty cost Celtic two points. However this was a much improved Celtic performance after the disappointment of last week. Showing much more characteristic discipline and organisation they were the better team throughout. Jamie Lee’s return to the defence mad a big difference where he was ably supported by Darren Melia and David O’Connor, with Diarmuid Higgins always a threat to the Kentstown defence. In the second half facing a strong wind Celtic played some very good football with Colm Smith

Halftime: 0 – 1

Trim Celtic 0 – 2 Athboy

Halftime: 0 – 2

In the opening game of the season Trim Celtic were well beaten by an Athboy
side that were more determined and better organised. Indeed the final
scoreline flattered Trim Celtic who never got going and had Dillan Murrnin
in goals to thank for the low score. Athboy took the lead after four
minutes, missed a penalty mid way through the half and scored a second just
before the break. In the second half Celtic tried to up the tempo but in the
end Athboy ran out deserving winners. This was the Trim group’s first defeat
in twenty-four league games and they know that the can and will do a lot
better.

Best for Trim Celtic were Dillan Murrnin, Jonathon Shaw and Niall Farrell.

NECSL Under 12 League

Trim Celtic 1 – 10 Athboy

Halftime: 0 – 7

Trim Celtic scorer: Cormac Joyce

This was the first tie this side had played together as an 11 a side team.
There was no lack of commitment from the Trim players as spirits were
generally high after the long summer break. A lack of training was to blame
for the defeat and this will be addressed as training will begin at 5.30
this Thursday at Tully Park.

Best for Trim Celtic were: Tom Stokes, Connor Joyce, Padraig Maguire and Ian

Trim Celtic scorers: David Malone, Ross Campbell

Trim Celtic took the lead after twenty minutes when David Malone finished
well from just inside the box.

Celtic didn’t have it all their own way and
relied on their keeper Tom Barry making some good saves throughout the
match. David Malone and Jonathon Connolly came close to extending Trim’s
lead but Ross Campbell scored the decisive second goal with minutes
remaining from Nick Bloy’s through ball.
