Premier Division

Trim Town 0 - 1 Trim Celtic

Halftime: 0 - 0

Trim Celtic scorer: David Fagan

Trim Celtic kept up their 100% start to the league season with a hard fought win against local rivals Trim Town.

Chances were few and far between in a game where both defences excelled. Town started brighter wuith the wind in the fist half and keeper Barry O’Callaghan saved well from a long range free kick. At the other end Paul Campbell volleyed wide from the edge of the box, while David Fagan had a good shot deflected out for a corner.
In the second half Celtic began to impose themselves more with the wind but were still well marshalled by the town defence. The wining goal was scored by David Fagan when he finished from close range after David Conway’s header came back off a post. Town had late half-chances to equalise and David Fagan had a chance to seal the win for Celtic, however none were taken and Celtic defended well enough to take victory Best for Trim Celtic were Shane Ashe, Dermot Bartley and David Fagan

This was a great win for Trim Celtic in the opening game of the season.
Celtic took the lead after twenty minutes when Eddie Murray scored. Trim
played some good football and controlled much of the second half but only
scored their second with fifteen minutes to go when the goalkeeper could
only parry Andy Reilly’s header with Alan McCormack on hand to tap home.

Just before the final whistle a Summerhill defender upended Andy Reilly in
the box conceding a penalty and receiving a red card in the process. The
resulting penalty was converted by Ronan Flynn.

Trim Celtic competed in a five team blitz in Mullingar as part of their

Premier Division

Rathkenny Rovers 0 - 1 Trim Celtic

Halftime: 0 - 0

Trim Celtic scorer: David Conway

Premier Division new boys Rathkenny Rovers gave Trim Celtic a real match in
the first half of the season. Despite controlling the game Celtic came up
against a very mean Rathkenny defence and a goalkeeper who was ascertive and
commanding in his box.

Celtic came close without the keeper making a save but often had their own
keeper Barry O’Callagahn to thank for keepeing the game scoreless with some
tidy sweeping.

Throughout the game Celtic were limited to long range shooting as they were
pushed out by the Rathkenny defence. In the end David Conway scored broke
the deadlock late in the second half with a header from Ciaran Rispin’s deep
cross.

Best for Trim Celtic were: Ciaran Rispin, Dermot Bartley and Barry
O’Callaghan
