In difficult conditions in Carrickmacross, Trim’s U12’s were happy to come away with all three points & to go clear at the top of the table. In the first half the Trim lads created a number of chances but were unable to convert. A minute before halftime Fearghal O Hare was brought down in the box for what should have been a penalty but the referee failed to award anything. The Trim lads had to play against the elements & the hill in the second half. Twenty minutes in, Trim saw a shot from Shane Moore come agonisingly back of the post. With five minutes left Trim won a corner, taken by Sean Coloe, which was eventually turned in by Jack Byrne after a goalmouth scramble. Trim had some good performances in defence from Shane Moore & Sean Coloe & in midfield from Neil Sweeney & Kevin McKeon.

In a convincing performance, Trim Celtic U12’s claimed all three points at Tully Park with this 6-0 win over Bailieboro. Fearghal O’Hare opened the scoring with a fine strike from the right after twelve minutes. The second goal came when the impressive Sean Coloe squared for Ryan Moore to score on his debut for Trim Celtic. Substitutes Conal McGrenra & Chris O’Gara put the game beyond Bailieboro’s reach when they got a goal apiece early in the second half. Fearghal O’Hare grabbed a second with a fine run from the right before finishing to the net. Man of the match, Sean Coloe, completed the scoring with a fine individual effort with five minutes left. Overall this was a tremendous team performance with all sixteen players putting in a great effort & playing some very entertaining football. Best for Trim Celtic were Sean Coloe, Ryan Moore & Fearghal O’Hare.

Trim Celtic under 12’s exited the SFAI Cup at Tully Park on Sunday afternoon going down in a penalty shoot-out against Swords Manor from the NDSL. The Trim lads started brightly & applied all the pressure in the early stages. After ten minutes they went ahead when Jack Byrne sent a ball through for Conor Burke who beat the advancing Swords keeper. Five minutes later Neil Sweeney came in from the left & showing some nice skill rounded the Swords defender before striking expertly to the net. Despite other scoring opportunities the game remained at two to nil at the break. Swords piled on the pressure in the second half & scored ten minutes in when the Trim defence failed to clear. The  second came with eight minutes left to level the score at two each at full time. During extra time Trim worked hard but were unable to convert the numerous chances they created leaving the score at two each & needing penalties to decide the match. In an exciting penalty shot-out, that entertained the large crowd present, each side took fourteen penalties with the Trim keeper Cian Downes managing to save four. However Swords Manor came out on top scoring ten against Trim’s nine. Well done to all the lads who put in a tremendous effort. Best for Trim: Conor Burke, Neil Sweeney, Cian Downes.

In a well contested match, Trim Celtic U12’s managed to overcome a resilient Parkvilla side to take all three points. Creating a number of good scoring chances in the first half the Trim lads could only manage to convert one on ten minutes from the boot of hardworking Stephen Moroney after some fine build-up play from Neil Sweeney & Jack Byrne. Parkvilla managed to strike back to leave it one apiece at the break. Trim took control of the game in the second half & were rewarded when man of the match Stephen Moroney added a further two goals to complete his hat-trick; one of his goals was a fabulous long range shot that the keeper was unable to hold. Bart Lekke sealed victory beating the Parkvilla defence with his blistering pace before shooting to the net. This was a fine team performance with Kevin Nally, Stephen Moroney and Cian Downes best for Trim.

Trim Celtic U12s suffered their first defeat of the season going down 3-1 against a good Navan Town team. They were unlucky not to go a goal to the good early in the match when a shot from Mantas Cervinskas went narrowly wide. A number of defensive errors gifted the Navan team with three goals in a fifteen minute period of the first half. In the second half the Trim lads put in a tremendous effort to pull the game back, not allowing the opposition any strikes on goal and getting a goal back late in the half. The Navan keeper was unable to hold a tremendous free kick from Sean Coloe which was finished off by Stephen Moroney. Best for Trim Celtic were Sean Coloe, Aaron Kelly and Stephen Moroney.

In another convincing performance Trim Celtic U12’s progressed to the second round of the SFAI Cup with a four to nil win over Carrick Rovers. The first goal came on fifteen minutes when a good clearance from Craig Fitzgerald found Jack Byrne who set Neil Sweeney up for a fine strike to the net. Trim went two up on 25 minutes with Mantas Cervinskas scoring his first goal in a Trim Celtic shirt. The Trim lads continued their dominance in the second half with Jack Byrne converting after 36 minutes & substitute Chris O’Gara sealing victory for Trim with a good finish after 49 minutes. The Trim defence were yet again outstanding with Cian Downes having a solid performance in goal. Best for Trim were Adrian Maguire, Conor Burke and Mentas Cervinskas.

Trim Celtic U12’s travelled to Drogheda on Saturday to take on Drogheda Town and came away with all three points. Playing against a stiff breeze in the first half the Trim team created a number of good scoring chances but were unable to convert leaving the game scoreless at the break. Ten minutes into the second half, Jack Byrne saw his shot come off the post and roll along the line but a poor clearance from Drogheda allowed Kevin McKeon to finish to the net. Trim continued to apply the pressure & were rewarded when a fabulous strike from Jack Byrne put the Trim boys two up. On twenty minutes goalkeeper Danny Garvey, with his first touch of the ball in second half, made a long clearance, the bounce of the ball beating the Drogheda defence, evading the keeper, all the way to the net. The Trim defence had another good game giving the opposition few chances. Best for Trim Celtic: Shane Moore, Jack Byrne, Stephen Moroney.

In an exiting and entertaining under 12 match at Tully Park, Trim Celtic came away with the three points after a convincing win over Johnstown. Trim dominated the first half and played some magnificent football but were unable to score leaving the game scoreless at halftime. The Trim boys started the second half brightly & were rewarded when Aaron Kelly popped up at the back post to finish a cross from Conor Burke. Aaron Kelly converted the second from the same position after some fine play from Stephen Moroney & Jack Byrne. The third came when Jack Byrne outpaced the Johnstown defence after a great through ball from Kevin McKeon. The Trim defence of Shane Moore, Sean Coloe, Colm Moriarty & Cian Downes who replaced Craig Fitzgerald after an injury, had an outstanding game with Danny Garvey showing a safe pair of hands in goal. Best for Trim Celtic were Aaron Kelly, Stephen Moroney and Sean Coloe.

The Club’s 12’s started well with Jack Byrne forcing the Kells keeper into an early save. The Trim lads opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Jack Byrne set Neil Sweeney up for a tremendous strike to the net. Trim created a few more chances before halftime but could not convert leaving it one to nil at the break. Trim started the sharper in the second half and got their reward when Jack Byrne finished neatly to the bottom corner. Some fine play from Kevin McKeon in midfield set Neil Sweeney up for his second with a superb finish over the keeper. Kells got one back when a long distance strike went under the crossbar out of keeper Cian Downes’ reach. Neil Sweeney completed his hat-trick with a fine volley to the net having been put through by Stephen Moroney. Mantas Cervinskas from Lithuania who made his debut for Trim Celtic impressed when introduced as a sub in the second half.  Best for Trim Celtic were Neil Sweeney, Stephen Moroney and Sean Coloe.

Playing Carrick in Tully Park on Saturday the U12’s got off to a good start when Kevin McKeon struck a superb shot from 20 yards to beat the Carrick keeper at the far post on eight minutes. Five minutes later a great ball from Neil Sweeney on the left wing over the Carrick defence saw Jack Byrne volley to the net from inside the eighteen yard box. Jack Byrne added a second before half time to give the Trim lads a well deserved 3-0 lead at the break. Carrick came out strongly in the second half but the Trim defence of Kevin Nally, Shane Moore, Sean Coloe, Craig Fitzgerald and keeper Cian Downes ensured that they remained scoreless. Trim went 4-0 up with five minutes to go when Kevin Nally struck a fabulous shot to the roof of the net from 20 yards. Best for Trim Celtic: Kevin Nally, Neil Sweeney, Kevin McKeon and Jack Byrne.

In the first league outing of the season Celtic’s 12s ran out comfortable winners 15 to nil. Jack Byrne put on a masterful display of scoring, netting eight times, a Club record for a competitive match. With Jack Byrne 7, Stephen Moroney 2 and Neil Sweeney putting the Trim lads 10 to nil up at half time this game was well and truly over. Further goals from new signing Conor Burke 2, Cian Shanley, Chris O’ Gara and Jack Byrne left the result at 15 to nil. There were great performances all over the pitch with Cian Downes showing a safe pair of hands in goal, Kevin Nally and Shane Moore outstanding in defence and Kevin McKeon working tirelessly in midfield. Substitutes Chris O Gara, Aaron Kelly, Colm Moriarty, Cian Shanley and Conal McGrenra gave a good account of themselves when introduced at halftime. Best for Trim Celtic were Jack Byrne, Sean Coloe and Craig Fitzgerald.
