Result: Trim Celtic 1-1 Torro United
Halftime: Trim Celtic 1-1 Torro United
Scorer for Trim: Damien McGee
Trim Celtic U16s took on the newly crowned champions, Torro United in Trim & came away with a share of the spoils. Torro started the game more confidently & had a few chances on goal. Their only goal wasn’t long in coming when after ten minutes a long range speculative shot from 25 yards eluded the Celtic keeper Michael Lydon. The goal sparked Trim into life & they then took the game to Torro. Trim created many chances with Thomas Noone being unlucky on a number of occasions. Just before half time Celtic were rewarded when Thomas Noone fired a shot from twenty yards which was parried by the Torro keeper into the path of Damien McGee who finished it off. The second half was end-to-end football in a highly entertaining game but neither side could find the winning goal, despite Thomas Noone having a guilt-edged chance with only two minutes remaining.  Best for Trim on the day were Micky Reilly & Simon Dixon at the back & the midfield pairing of Gary Reilly & Jordan Martin. Celtic’s cause on the day was not helped by the failure of several regular players to turn up.
Trim Celtic: M. Lydon, S. Dixon, N. Kennedy, K. Patterson, M. Reilly, J. McDermott, D. McGee, G. Reilly, J. Martin, J. Lee, T. Noone.
Subs: J. Costello for J. McDermott.

The Club U16s travelled away to Grove Rangers in Drogheda & had to contend with bad weather & a bad playing surface. The only goal of the game came from Grove when a speculative long range effort came off one post & in off the other. Trim continued to exert pressure on the game but time after time but failed to find a finish.  In spite of not scoring, there were good performances throughout the team with Michael Lydon doing well in goal, Kenneth Patterson & Micky Reilly in central defence & Gary Reilly in midfield. Five minutes later a great solo effort from Damien McGee to beat the Torro defence resulted in the equaliser when he slipped the ball under the keeper into an empty net.
